Born and raised in the Northern English countryside, Sam Newbould is a saxophonist, composer and bandleader based in Amsterdam. Newbould's latest album Homing has been nominated for an Edison award in the 'Nationaal' category. He was also the first recipient of the Rabobank So Who's Next Talent Award 2024 and won the Keep an Eye Records Award 2019.
With his quintet, Newbould has cultivated through years of touring and recording, featuring Xavi Torres on piano and synthesizers, Jort Terwijn on double bass, Guy Salamon on drums and Bernard van Rossum on tenor saxophone.
His upcoming album, One Day We'll Have a Window reveals a broader side of Newbould’s musical vision. Vocals, flute, synthesizer textures and intimate self-produced solo pieces expand the record’s sonic palette, creating a work that is both deeply personal and richly collaborative.
