Artvark has spent the past two decades redefining what a saxophone quartet can be. Rooted originally in jazz but shaped equally by contemporary classical music, cinematic composition, improvisation and experimental sound worlds, the Dutch quartet has developed a distinctive collective language built around movement, interaction and sonic exploration.
Known for performing entirely from memory, Artvark transforms the stage into an active physical space where musical interplay becomes visible as much as audible. Their work has brought them from concert halls and jazz festivals to collaborations with dancers, actors, orchestras, poets, percussion ensembles and visual artists.
Throughout their career, the quartet has continuously expanded its musical vocabulary while maintaining the unmistakable identity of four saxophones moving as a single organism.
