Centauri has quietly become André Fernandes’ most coherent long-form statement. It began with Draco, orbiting constellations and distant stars. It deepened with Dianho, rooted in Portuguese folk horror. Then came Hades, a monumental chapter drawing from Greek mythology and revealing the full scope of Fernandes’ musical ecosystem: composition, production, band interplay and atmosphere fused into one organic vision. Each record opened a distinct world, allowing the music to expand freely.

Now comes the fourth chapter. With Centauri Chroma, the lens shifts once more. No stars. No beasts. No gods. This time, the framework is color.

Chroma moves inward, toward perception itself and the relationship between sound and sight. The quiet logic of synesthesia, where density carries shadow, tension cools toward blue, and a groove glows without tipping into brightness. Still, the music came first. Only after recording did Fernandes listen back and ask what each piece felt like visually. Each of the six tracks carries the name of an unusual shade, chosen by letting the sound suggest its own palette. The titles do not explain the compositions. They tilt them, offering perspective rather than narrative.

That same trust in instinct carries into the studio. Fernandes writes fast and records even faster. Minimal rehearsal. A handful of takes per song. Then a simple decision: keep the one that feels alive. He prefers an imperfect performance reaching for something real over a flawless take that says nothing.

Centauri Chroma reflects that same in-between quality. Instrumental and improvisation-driven, yet rooted in the slow burn of 90s rock, where distortion sits beside horns. What has been described as grunge jazz or stoner jazz opens into abstraction, forming a sound with its own gravity that pulls different worlds into the same orbit.
