"Perpetual celebrates its 10th anniversary. What a trip down memory lane. From the old studio recordings, imagery, the smell of the studio to those cold winter days in Brooklyn where we recorded it. The Marciano brothers (and their signature 80's hairdo) who recorded the album. The grand piano that had once stood center stage at Carnegie Hall. Back to my influences of the day: Vijay Iyer, Craig Taborn. The lyrical sounds of the Clube da Esquina. Performance art with imaginative titles such as 'Songs of Ascension'. My mother's compositions. The buddhist view of time and perpetuity. Bill Evans. I wrote this record behind my piano in the East Village in a sunny but cold appartment that I shared with a dancer and an actress. My entire surroundings, all of it is in the music. We picked the best sounding mixes and (re)masters for all of the tracks and added two solo piano tracks, a wish I've had since first putting the record out. Bye for now from 166 Avenue A"
