The album grows out of years spent absorbing different musical climates: the Mediterranean openness of Barcelona, the exploratory improvising culture of Amsterdam, and the genre-fluid sonic world of Los Angeles. Encounters with musicians, mentors, friends and collaborators gradually filled that space with sound, ideas and energy. Rather than pointing to a single style or tradition, so warm, PT. 1: Warm-blooded gathers these experiences into a collection of pieces that reflect the many musical worlds Felices has moved through, transforming them into something distinctly his own.
The idea of a gallery offers a fitting way to think about the album, according to Felices. Like artworks in an exhibition, he approaches each composition as its own space, with its own atmosphere, colors and perspective, while still belonging to a larger whole. Rather than forcing different influences into a single stylistic frame, Felices places them side by side, allowing contrasts and connections to emerge naturally.
This approach reflects a broader shift in how many musicians of Felices’ generation think about music. Genre once served as a map; today, it can just as easily feel like a fence. For a growing number of artists, the question is no longer which style they belong to, but how many worlds they can bring together at once.
