After nearly ten years together on stage together, Jasper Blom, Sean Fasciani and Felix Schlarmann share their record WonderYears. It is the first album on which the trio captures its ongoing dialogue with the music of Stevie Wonder. Even though Wonder's music remains clearly present throughout, the trio doesn't treat these compositions as sacred monuments. They treat them as material: something to stretch, reshape, take apart and put back together again.
The fact that it arrives exactly fifty years after the release of Songs in the Key of Life feels like a meaningful coincidence, a fitting moment for music that shows just how alive, versatile and open Wonder’s compositions still are.
